🧺 Daily Crochet Squares – Day 24

Day 24 Crochet Basket Weave Square

We’ve arrived at Day 24 of this cozy crochet journey, and today’s square is all about texture and simplicity. I hadn’t prepared a specific pattern ahead of time, but that didn’t stop me. I grabbed my hook and whipped up a square using the basket weave stitch—and I’m in love. 🧡

This stitch gives off strong “warm blanket by the fire” vibes. It’s also a great stitch for scarves, hats, or just about anything you want to feel squishy and textured. Best of all? It’s completely beginner-friendly!

🪵 Basket Weave Crochet Square

To begin any basket weave pattern, chain a multiple of 8. I started with 32 chains.

Row 1: Make 1 chainless standing double crochet (csdc) into the first chain, or ch 2 more and dc into the 3rd chain. DC in each remaining chain across. (32 sts)

Row 2: Ch 2 and turn (or turn and csdc). DC in next st. Then * front post double crochet (fpdc) around each of the next 4 sts, back post double crochet (bpdc) around the next 4 sts *. Repeat between * * until 2 stitches remain. DC in each.

Row 3: Repeat Row 2.

Row 4: Ch 2 and turn (or csdc). DC in next st. Then * bpdc around next 4 sts, fpdc around next 4 sts *. Repeat to last 2 sts, then DC in each.

Row 5: Repeat Row 4.

Rows 6–17: Continue repeating Rows 2–5 until the square is, well... square! Add more rows if needed.

✅ Double Check Your Ends

Weaving in ends as you go might not be glamorous, but it’s the best way to avoid that massive finishing-day regret. Trust me—your future self will thank you.
