🌞 Daily Crochet Squares – Day 20
Day 20! We’re diving into one of my all-time favorites — the sunburst granny square. While I only crocheted mine in white this time, it still pops with that timeless textured magic.
This series is a labor of love, and this square felt like a treat to work up. I’ve made sunburst squares before in bright, cheery rounds, but this solid white version made the texture really shine. If you’ve never tried this stitch before, it’s the kind of pattern that makes you fall in love with granny squares all over again.
💫 The Sunburst Granny Square
The pattern comes from the Sunburst Granny Square Throw by Mallory Krall, and I’m obsessed. It’s fast, fabulous, and full of texture. It starts with a tight, puffed-up center and opens outward into a neat, floral explosion that just screams ‘make a blanket out of me.’
I haven’t decided yet if I’ll use this square in my final blanket layout or make an entirely separate sunburst afghan — but I do know I’ll be coming back to this pattern again. It’s a keeper.
🧵 Double Check Your Ends
Sunburst squares tend to have lots of color changes and round transitions — even though I used white only, there were plenty of ends to weave in. Take this as your daily reminder to double check your corners, puffs, and pesky tail threads. Future-you will thank you!
