๐งต 31 Days of Squares – Week 2 Roundup (Days 8–14)
Welcome to Week 2 of my 31 Days of Squares series — the challenge where I crochet a new square every day using stash yarn and pure stubborn joy. This week introduced classics, texture bombs, beachy nostalgia, and a C2C cameo. Let’s take a look back at what unfolded!
๐งถ Day 8: The Granny Square
Stitches used: Double crochet, chain spaces
Vibe: The one that started it all.
Sometimes you need a classic. This traditional granny square was a quick, comforting palette cleanser and a reminder of why we all fell in love with crochet in the first place.
๐งถ Day 9: Last Dance on the Beach
Stitches used: Puff stitches, single crochet
Vibe: Soft waves and gentle nostalgia.
This pattern is from the Last Dance on the Beach CAL and has beautiful stitch variation with a deeply relaxing feel. Perfect for mindfully floating through an evening of hooky goodness.
๐งถ Day 10: The Star Stitch
Stitches used: Star stitch
Vibe: Twinkly, dense, and satisfying to hook.
The star stitch always delivers texture and structure. This one feels especially cozy — like crocheting constellations into your blanket. Perfect for a project that needs a bit of visual gravity.
๐งถ Day 11: Bobble Along with a Crochet Bobble Stitch
Stitches used: Bobble stitch, single crochet
Vibe: Bouncy, squishy, and full of charm.
This square is basically the crochet version of bubble wrap — satisfying bobbles that pop visually, with rhythmic repetition that’s strangely soothing.
๐งถ Day 12: Let’s Do the Wave
Stitches used: Wave pattern (likely alternating DC/SC or shell stitch)
Vibe: Yarn that dances like seafoam.
This one plays with motion through gentle stitch shaping — an undulating ripple that evokes ocean waves and sun-bleached boardwalks. Summer square energy.
๐งถ Day 13: Footprints in the Sand
Stitches used: Texture + raised stitchwork
Vibe: Sentimental and sculpted.
Another from the Last Dance on the Beach CAL, this square tells a quiet story through texture. If you love a tactile square that holds emotion in every stitch, this one’s a favorite.
๐งถ Day 14: Corner to Corner Crochet Feels
Stitches used: C2C (corner-to-corner) crochet
Vibe: A diagonal deep-dive into feeling your yarn.
C2C in a square format brings a new angle to the blanket — literally. This square shifts construction and perspective while keeping things simple and meditative.
๐งถ Weekly Reflection
This week was all about texture and movement. We zigzagged through stitch techniques, borrowed inspiration from past CALs, and even snuck in a corner-to-corner square to shake things up. If Week 1 was about establishing a rhythm, Week 2 was about dancing with it.
