Designer: Tanya Corbeil
Pattern on Ravelry: Trick ‘r Treat Cat
Pattern on Etsy: Halloween Cat

Let’s talk about this little mischief-maker. The Trick ‘r Treat Cat by Tanya Corbeil is an absolute Halloween delight—with just the right amount of spooky charm and handmade heart. I spotted it last fall and immediately knew I had to make one… okay, maybe two… okay FINE, three. (Don’t judge me. You’ll see.)

The Pattern 🧶

This is an amigurumi pattern that’s beginner-friendly but it does assume you’re comfortable with the basics. Tanya gives clear instructions and the shaping is straightforward—nothing too fiddly, which I appreciate because my patience has a time limit shaped like a pumpkin bucket. 🎃

It’s written in US crochet terms and available both on Ravelry and Etsy if you prefer shopping there!

The Make 🧵

I used basic worsted weight acrylic for mine because I knew it was going to be tossed around by curious little hands and possibly end up in a candy bowl. The pattern doesn’t require a ton of yarn, so it’s perfect for stash-busting those random balls of black and orange. I mean, who doesn’t have a Halloween-colored yarn orphan somewhere?

Assembly was smooth, and I actually enjoyed sewing the parts together—which is saying something because I usually avoid amigurumi just to dodge the finishing work. 😅 The facial expression is all in the placement, so I took my time and gave mine a slightly cheeky, "I’m up to no good" grin.

Final Thoughts 💬

This pattern is adorable, fast to work up, and has that cozy spooky-season vibe that makes you want to light a candle and watch Hocus Pocus while you crochet. It’s a 10/10 from me—and I already know I’ll be making a few more come October.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Especially if you want a cute little seasonal touch without committing to a whole blanket or costume.
